Plan for railway memorial garden
An impressive Haslemere plan to remember London & South Western Railway staff who lost their lives in the first and second world wars has been created by landscape architect David O'Brien. The project aims to convert an area of unused space beside the station, into a worthy memorial. The project was originally aimed to coincide with the nationwide Railway 200 celebrations – and the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2. Various technical issues have delayed work on the garden, but it remains a priority. Click below for a YouTube video presentation on the project
